Private Sessions

Bring comfort to a loved one in hospice or palliative care

Service Description

IN-PERSON VISITS TEMPORARILY POSTPONED Live therapeutic music can provide emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical comfort for those who are sick in the hospital or nursing home, and especially for those in hospice care. Emily is a Certified Music Practitioner with training from the Music for Healing & Transition Program and specializes in palliative and end-of-life care. In a Therapeutic Music Session, Emily may sing and/or play the Celtic harp, tenor ukulele, or alto flute to foster healing and strengthen the spirits of patients and their caregivers. Music is tailored to a patient’s immediate needs and requires no physical or verbal interaction. Even patients who are sedated, cognitively-impaired, or unconscious can benefit from the calming effects of therapeutic music, which has been clinically proven to slow down and calm heartbeart and respiration rate, moderate stress-related hormones and anxiety, reduce muscle tension, stimulate the immune system, and promote a feeling of well-being and peace. Single sessions may range from 30-60 minutes, depending on a patient’s receptivity and needs. Cost is $100 per session for up to 1 hour. Payment may be made with cash, checks made payable to “Emily Olson,” Venmo, and CashApp. Reduced-rate options are possible for those experiencing financial hardship. Please inquire about availability. Travel included within a 20-mile radius of Dexter, MI. An additional $50 travel stipend applied to farther locations up to 50 miles from Dexter, MI.
